Samson Meteor Mic on iPad

Will it work with GarageBand and will it work on my iPad? Two questions we get asked more and more frequently. There is a growing band of people who want to make music on their iPad, and build a neat mobile recording studio. So I thought I’d just have a quick look at some products that really lend themselves to the iPad market. First the mighty Samson Meteor Mic. What’s not to like about this fabulous little beauty. Crisp audio recording quality, cool shiny looks, neat self-contained design, the only other thing you need to connect it to your iPad is Apple’s USB connector. It’s never been easier to start recording… it’s spot-on for voiceovers and multimedia creations, great for home video production, perfect for podcasting, and essential kit for professional recording results. You can monitor through the mic with headphones, there is full control over the volume, you literally don’t need anything else but your imagination!

M-Audio Keystation Mini 32 on iPad

Then our other iPad favourite must-have is M-Audio’s new keystation baby, the M-Audio Keystation Mini 32 is a slick little keyboard for music making on the go. With 32 low-profile, velocity-sensitive mini-keys, edit button, octave/data up/down , pitch bend and modulation, and a sustain button, this little keyboard has all the features of its much bigger brothers but in a handy rucsack size! Perfect for iPad, again it connects effortlessly with the iPad Camera Connection Kit, and hey presto, you have a mobile studio.

Alesis Audiolink Series
Finally, Alesis have a whole range of great USB interfaces for special purposes. Whether you want to record your guitar, connect up a MIDI instrument, digitize your vinyl or tapes, record a line level signal or connect a dynamic mic, the Alesis Audiolink Series have got it covered, and all work with iPad with a suitable USB adapter

Samson Meteor MicUSB Studio Condenser Microphone

We have been selling USB Mics for years, so we were really very excited when we heard the Samson Meteor Mic was on its way. This really is the coolest looking microphone. It’s sleek chrome design is awesome, but once you’ve got past that you want to know whether it will do the job.
Well they’ve just hit our decks and we are absolutely thrilled with them. They make a fantastic quality recording and will work seamlessly in all sorts of software. Whether you want to record music, use voice recognition software, Skype, iChat, make your own audiobooks, podcast, you will find this fab little mic is definitely the answer.
Apart from the beautiful looks, we particularly like the fact it has a headphone socket to enable zero latency monitoring. If you don’t know what that means, you soon will if you buy a product without. If you want to listen to yourself while recording you need it!! And with the Meteor you can. Plus you can mute the mic is you just want to monitor through the headphones.
Best of all, hook this mic up to your iPad, using Apple’s USB adapter. This is the first USB mic we know of designed with the iPad in mind. Also works absolutely seamlessly with any mac, notebook, laptop, pc. It’s simply a great universal recording solution!

Creating a CD from your USB Mic Recordings

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

You asked: “I bought a Samson Q1U Dynamic USB microphone from you. A Cakewalk LE programme came with the purchase. I want to burn Cd’s of recordings I have made on my Cakewalk LE programme. I understand that I need to buy an encoder for this purpose. Are you able to suplly such a programme for purcase, please?

This is quite a common question, especially as the Cakewalk program is very keen to encourage you to purchase an encoder. However, it is perfectly possible to burn CD’s without spending any money on an encoder. When you have recorded and mixed something you are happy with in Cakewalk LE and are ready to burn it to CD, simply export the whole thing as an audio file (File->Export). You will then have a standard audio file in *.wav format which you can burn to a CD either using Windows Media Centre (see instructions below) or using iTunes, both of which are FREE.
